About
TypeCheetah is a game-based typing curriculum for K-12 schools and homeschool families, currently in development. It’s built by vectorfrog, a small independent software studio that builds and operates its own web products — TypeCheetah is our education product, and we’re building it in the open with a founding cohort of real classrooms and families.
Why We’re Building This
The Problem
Most typing programs used in classrooms today are drills with badges bolted on β the same keyboard exercises schools have used for decades, wrapped in a slightly newer interface. Students notice the difference between a game and a chore, and typing practice has stayed firmly on the chore side.
What Better Looks Like
We think typing practice can be an actual game β the kind students choose to play β built on top of a structured curriculum that actually teaches technique, not just repetition. Underneath the game, teachers and parents need real progress visibility: who is on pace, who is falling behind, and what to do about it.
What We Believe
Three commitments guide every decision we make: practice should feel like play, not punishment. Progress should be visible to teachers and parents, not hidden in a black box. And a studentβs data is never a product to be sold β full stop.
Our goal is straightforward: students reaching 40+ words per minute with real accuracy — ready for standardized testing and for the typing they’ll actually do in school and beyond.
How We’re Building It
Being a small independent studio isn’t something we’re working around — it’s the most honest advantage we can offer right now. There’s no support ticket queue and no sales layer between you and the people writing the code.
TypeCheetah is in active development right now, with a founding cohort of schools and homeschool families using and shaping it before a public launch.
Founding schools and families join regular feedback sessions with our team. What we hear directly changes what we build next β not a suggestion box, an actual input into the roadmap.
TypeCheetah is built by vectorfrog, a small independent software studio. That means no sales layer between you and the people building the product β when you write to us, a builder reads it.
Our Commitments
Student data is never sold and never used for advertising. Full stop.
Every part of TypeCheetah is being designed to meet COPPA and FERPA requirements for student data, from day one.
Accessibility is a design requirement, not an afterthought. WCAG 2.1 AA is the bar every screen is held to.
